We usually use the built in probe with the meat oven. However, the convenience of a small, instantly readable wearable device is greatly appreciated. I've also owned several types of chocolate thermometers, each with their own problems. Candy thermometers cannot work in the low range, complex meat thermometers want to set meat alarm ranges and are not easy to override. Other designs are covered in chocolate and are unreadable. So it's time for a new approach. So far we have a) tested it on ice and boiling water and found it to be correct. compared it to the sensor in the oven and found both were in sync) used it on an open grill to make sure our chicken was at the right temperature. either my current candy thermometer (which is covered in chocolate making it unreadable) or my old long wires connected to a meat thermometer that wasn't user friendly. There was even a spare battery included. LOVE IT.
