These lids are far superior to other brands of mason jars because they have grooves around the perimeter. These small grooves make removing the caps much easier than other brands. The lids close tightly, keeping water or food fresh, and you don't need a strong man every time you open them! The ridges make it easy to hold tightly sealed lids and I can open them myself! When I bought them I also bought another brand because they had such beautiful colors. What a waste of money! Other brands of lids give me trouble every time I open them to wash or refill. I even broke one the other day trying to open the lid. Don't be tempted by the beautiful colors of other brands! This brand is by far the most durable and functional!
