I decided it was time to demolish the long, narrow shower space in our master bathroom. It was easy to tear down the walls; However, I needed a different approach to a cement and membrane shower tray. I decided that a Craftsman CMXPTSG1010NB pneumatic hammer made in China was the right solution for the job. Preparing this pneumatic hammer is easy. Just add an air hose quick connector (not included) and a few drops of oil. The chisel that comes with this tool is only 5" so I replaced it with the 7" version from the Craftsman CMXZTSG1056NB 5 Piece Air Chisel Set. Changing bits required removing the spring retainer and reinstalling it. Then I connected the hose from the air compressor and got to work. Using a Craftsman pneumatic hammer, I easily broke through a 3 inch layer of cement. After a while I managed to tighten the rubber membrane and finish this task. I rarely do this type of work, but it seems to me that an air hammer was a good approach. I want to tile the same bathroom and will use this air hammer again. I'm glad I ordered this tool and plan to use it more often.
