Lots of pockets are useful for trips where you have to store random stuff with you. The shorts are comfortable, although my pants are slightly too big, wish there was a 35" waist option. I think these shorts are great and you will not be disappointed. One minor thing is that this type of fabric will sometimes catch lint and stuff from the washer as it is slightly water repellent but then again its a useful feature and it is easy enough to get that stuff off if it does happen.
