From Olympus 500 to Olympus 510

I recently bought the 510 after owning the 500 for about 2 years - although I was pleased to have the LiveView feature - I was comfortable with the Functionality not satisfied. If I do something wrong! When using Live View, the camera does not introduce itself before recording. If I instead point the camera at the subject and press the shutter button halfway (which would be the normal way to focus), the camera doesn't do anything, instead you have to press the shutter button all the way down - then it focuses and takes frame after frame in one fell swoop too ! So far this has been my experience with subjects that are at least close, say 12ft or less, and in macro mode for example you have no idea if your image is in focus or not until you pull the trigger. If I'm doing something wrong please let me know, but from what I've read in the manual it works. I personally would like to know if my image is sharp before I take a picture. Of course, if you're not using the live view feature and are using the viewfinder instead, things swell. So I'm not very confident about using live view mode and that's the only reason I didn't give this camera a 5 star rating. As for the extra lenses, after reading some of the other comments that they don't have cheaper lenses. I bought a 50mm f2.0 macro lens and think it's excellent, especially in macro mode - the clarity and sharpness are noticeably better than the kit lenses and I don't blame the lenses in any way. But I also checked the reference prices of some other lenses - and found minimal price differences - for example the Olympus 11-22mm zoom I'm very interested in and you can buy it outright for $600 - Nikon, Cannon and Sigma. all are almost the same price for about the same lens - and I found this to be the case with most other lenses when comparing apples to apples, with one exception and that would be a 1.4x converter - the Olympus is definitely better than any other brand. Someone mentioned prime lenses in a previous comment and Olympus makes 35mm and Sigma 24mm for Olympus which should be perfect for a good prime considering it will double to 48mm on this camera. If anyone like me is having trouble with the live view, please comment or let me know what I'm not seeing. Thanks in advance. ken
