Poor casting quality, flanges too small, poor fit

I bought this product based on the reviews. I thought it could be good and maybe still is. The shaping is poor, but since it hasn't been installed yet, I'm not sure how it affects fit and performance. Because the casting is exposed to heat, the lack of material can cause problems in the future, and if it fails or falls apart, the turbine will fail. The whistles look nice and as I'm putting them on a van it's an easy task but honestly I wouldn't recommend them based on what came out of the box. I'll post some photos later, but based on what I saw I'd spend a few bucks more elsewhere. For the money is good, but for the risk? The car has 550,000 miles on it and I thought the engine was running so I didn't want to invest any more money. For those of you thinking what do you expect for this price? You are right. Therefore reviews are important. I may have an exception, but when it says "Made in China" you're paying money and taking a risk. To make this even remotely fit, I loosened the entire block. My first image has a tab that needs to match Turbo. Since I had to loosen the bolts that connect the two pipes to the manifold, I knew I was going to have trouble. The passenger side is fine, but the driver's side has a large gap to the engine. It wouldn't be so bad if the flanges on the bottom of the tubes were the same or close to the OEM. See photo 3, this is the old flange. 4 shows how loose the pipe is on the manifold to try to align the flange. 5 is a gap that can go down, but from a standpoint I would doubt it would be tight as the flange is barely big enough. I'll see if I can send it back and get the original. Might stop the leak, but the hardest part of this whole job is getting the old stuff off.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Everything OK
