My husband and I installed this door with no problems. It was a fun adventure for couples. Our cat always came through the large rectangular entry/exit door for big cats and small dogs that was installed by a family who lived in our home while we worked out of state. This door had lost most of the foam around the edges and was swaying back and forth slightly. It took our cat a month or more to get used to and use it. At first she was very scared, but then she turned pro. We chose to fit this new, smaller door into another door leading onto our covered patio. The cat mastered it in a few hours and comes and goes as it pleases when it wants to go on deck. Because the foam is new and hard around the edges of the valve, it needs to be squeezed hard to keep it moving. She can no longer jump over it like a gazelle jumping through a hoop. It's funny to see them in and out. It's a slow process, but because it's slow, there's no chance of damaging her tail or any other part of her body. So far we are very happy with this door. Since it serves as an entry point to the closed deck, we have door locks that are open on both sides. Your movement along it is quite silent.
