Replaces the same model that lasted 5 years

In the description of this cat flap before opening it said that it checks the number of cats on the chip. I knew it wasn't when I bought it, but that could be slightly confusing for those new to this model. We use it on the screen door to let some rescue cats through the screened porch. The first lasted 5 years. I think the plastic was a bit stiffer on the older model. The lock is set to lock one side or the other of the door, or both sides. I definitely don't want a door like this leading…

Rating after 4 days of use - so far so good

My husband and I installed this door with no problems. It was a fun adventure for couples. Our cat always came through the large rectangular entry/exit door for big cats and small dogs that was installed by a family who lived in our home while we worked out of state. This door had lost most of the foam around the edges and was swaying back and forth slightly. It took our cat a month or more to get used to and use it. At first she was very scared, but then she turned pro. We chose to fit this…

A big door for big cats.

This was an exact replacement for the pet door we bought about five years ago to allow our only cat Lefty (who was a big boy) to climb in and out at will through the back entrance to the basement. It worked well from the time it was originally installed, and the locking system has proven effective and durable over time (our garage's pet door latch mechanism, made by another manufacturer, fell apart after just a few years). The reason we needed this replacement is because Junior (another member…

I hated installing it, love it now.

I like this thing now that it's installed. It took several attempts with treats and food to get the cat to squeeze through the door. We also removed the metal tip from the bottom of the swing door to disable the magnet. Once the cat got used to it, we replaced it and the cat can still make its way. It's not a strong magnet, but I felt it discouraged the cat at first, so we removed it. The magnet helps keep the door fully closed. Durable and well made. Doesn't move when properly installed. You…
