This was an exact replacement for the pet door we bought about five years ago to allow our only cat Lefty (who was a big boy) to climb in and out at will through the back entrance to the basement. It worked well from the time it was originally installed, and the locking system has proven effective and durable over time (our garage's pet door latch mechanism, made by another manufacturer, fell apart after just a few years). The reason we needed this replacement is because Junior (another member of our team and the newest addition) sometimes drives through a cat door at 100mph, and the last time this happened a clear plastic door that was the Sash divided in half. This leads me to complain about the MANUFACTURER of the door, not the product itself. PetSafe should your company start offering ONLY the door valve as a separate replacement part, just like other door models. There's no reason consumers of your product should be forced to buy a brand new pet door when they should be able - at a much lower price - to get the only item needed to fix what they already have. Please, PetSafe, CHANGE YOUR PARTS POLICY! Otherwise, you risk spreading word of mouth to discourage people from recommending a really good product to other potential customers.
