Review on πŸ”‘ Enhanced Ignition Switch US240 by Standard Motor Products by Brett Slater

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works fine, but follow the installation instructions carefully.

Switch OK, Chrysler design not so good. :( I spent almost 4 full hours "dry testing" the fit and function of the old switch to figure out how it would fit and work. The installation guide that came with the switch is pretty good, but some of the words used are cryptic and the drawings are incomprehensible until you really see how everything fits Suggestion 1: replace the lock cylinder at the same time if it is old - or particularly original This replaces the key, but it is worth it Suggestion 2: *the key must be removed from cylinder lock* when inserting into switch so that the square metal tab on the lock cylinder AND the lock pin are retracted (not protruding) Bend the side switch into the ignition lock cylinder hole controls the automatic door locks and they will work no longer correct Suggestion 3: Look down into the lock cylinder hole in the switch See the black neck bcircle of plastic on the edge? Part and watch out for the metal "shark fin". When installing, insert the lock barrel THEN insert the key to pop out the rectangular tab and slowly turn the barrel clockwise until this "shark fin" is between these plastic semi-circles. THEN continue to rotate clockwise through the "Start" section where you will feel resistance from the spring. This will cause the locking pin on the lock cylinder to pop out. THEN turn fully counterclockwise, which will move the lock barrel locking pin into the square plastic hole on the side of the switch, preventing the lock barrel from falling out due to the spring at the bottom of the lock barrel. hole in the switch. Then everything is ready! Removal is the same. After turning it to its original position with the key in the lock barrel and then using a tiny screwdriver to push the lock barrel lock pin back in,* the key must be removed from the lock barrel before removing it from the switch. to retract the rectangular metal post that pushes the side switch. Otherwise, this switch may be bent at the exit. The side switch has some sort of disposable plastic plug in the hole of the ignition lock cylinder to allow it to *remove* the lock cylinder with the key in, but it definitely won't survive the installation with a key (haha, I know, this is my second switch, with the first one I bent the side switch in the same way, left the key when inserting the lock cylinder). Hope this helps others!
