Great for its price.

I got my kayak off the ground :) Now I can fill my garage with more cave stuff. I used the screws that came with it, no problem. Did I hear a squeak indicating their bolts were broken? I drilled pilot holes and used an impact wrench. I remember installing blinds in my old houses and exercising regularly was an ordeal. I either removed some of the screws or snapped them in or could never get them all the way in because of the corner and it's not the easiest of screws. So I've already learned my lesson with this lift. Measure the right length, perfect for your kayak. Drilled pilot holes. Then use the impact wrench. I watched a video on YouTube on how to pull the rope. Pull slowly when lifting. On the descent it was easier for me to let go of one side a bit and switch each side since you have to have the locking bar lowered. The straps are long as everyone says and the garage in the house I live in is older and the beams are lower. I was going to go to the seamstress and ask her to shorten the straps for me, but instead I knotted the straps to the correct length. Don't just tie a plain old knot. I catch a few fish so I used those skills to tie the right knot. It is now short enough to be neat to keep the kayak higher and prevent the kayak from sliding sideways off the lift if the kayak capsizes while lifting. I took off a star because I had to go elsewhere to figure out how to thread the rope through and I'm a little concerned that the rope might take over the mount's locking clips. I just have to be careful not to break the threads from the clamps. Rope is cheap so I don't really care.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Vulgarity
