Works exactly like the original PlayStation 5 charging station. I don't know how the original works but this one doesn't seem to work when the PlayStation is running on low power mode even if you have set it to continue charging. I suspect this is because the charging dock draws more power than a single controller. We just took our phone charger and USB cable and plugged it into the 6 power strip behind the TV. Thus charter stations were always under power.
