I bought this monitor to upgrade my 8 year old 19 inch HP monitor (model f1903) which I have always been happy with so I figured this HP product would be good too. Unfortunately there aren't any. If the old one coped perfectly with the conditions of my window office, then this one is completely unsuitable for this purpose. I suppose the screen's literally mirror-smooth surface can deliver good colors in a dark room, but it's completely unreadable when significant light bounces off it. Even without a window, but with average interior lighting from above, you can still see your own reflection quite clearly in the darker areas of the picture. And don't even think about using it in a room with windows. Worst of all, one of the reasons I chose this monitor was because HP's description on Revain advertises "Brightview glare reduction technology" which I think would mean it's in the realm of anti-reflective durability would be at least somewhat average. This is perhaps the most devious and misleading marketing description I have ever seen. Thank you HP! If you had the decency, you would at least mention that this is a glossy screen meant only for darkened rooms. Needless to say I am returning the monitor mainly because of this glare issue which is way worse than anything else. others I have ever owned including several CRTs that are known to have this problem. But for the sake of completeness I come to the general result of my impressions. POSITIVE FEATURES: 1) I was pleasantly surprised at how thin and light it is. Very nice appearance. NEGATIVE FEATURES: 1) Terrible glare (see above). Its glossy screen might appeal to you if you enjoy playing games in your basement den, but it's totally unacceptable in an office environment with windows. 2) The color shift seemed much worse than average to me. At 2-3 feet away, the same shade of gray appears noticeably more pink at the top of the monitor and bluer at the bottom. Upon further research I found that some color change was to be expected on all the cheaper TN panels, but on most I saw it wasn't as noticeable as this one. 3) Fragile stand. I understand this is also a common problem, but this monitor strikes me as worse than average. The problem is compounded by the location and sluggishness of the control buttons, which cannot be operated without causing the monitor to shake.
