I bought this monitor thinking it would be a good upgrade for my HP 2709m. I tested the 2711x with my current 2709m monitor to visually compare them. I've used comparable Viewsonic, Samsung and Acer and this HP 2711x beats them all. Long-term text legibility is extremely important to me, and while HP doesn't even come close to NEC, it's certainly better than the others mentioned. Extremely light.
