Please read and trust the other 1 star reviews. I have 4 previous generations of this cat box and they all work well. I bought this new model without reading the reviews thinking it was the same. This new model does not work as expected. It's LOUD right out of the box. Creaks and moans. Dirt is accumulating at the bottom of the stairs. I figured I had too much fill and it would be too heavy for the box, so I took some out and lined it up with the fill line. It didn't help, the crunching, moaning and heaping continued. I unplugged it the first night to close it. The next day I removed the lid to see what was going on. Garbage lumps don't go up the stairs. They climb up a few inches and just roll down, accumulating debris because there's nowhere to go. The small grid that the clean litter falls through simply cuts through the clumps, leaving little bits of dirty litter scattered around the box. I haven't removed the lid for 2 days and watched it lift ANY dirt up the stairs. Now I have to disassemble and clean the whole thing to get it back. I will look for the previous model, discontinued.
