This is a common problem on RAV4 vehicles where the air conditioning starts to cycle on and off intermittently and then shuts off completely. A good way to check if you need it is to take a magnet and attach it to this part of the compressor. If your air conditioner blows cold air again, that's to blame. Unfortunately, the theft or other repair shop will likely only want to replace the entire compressor, which is costly. I've been making a magnetic mod for a while but others have said it will burn my compressor and I need to replace this part. It's a little tricky to get to, but overall nothing special. You will need snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring, loosen the old one, install this, and replace the snap ring.
