This frame of diplomas, degrees, or certificates is nicely made. It arrived shrink-wrapped with carboard corner protectors on the frame, a silica gel desiccant packet, and the hole thing was packed in a fitted cardboard box. So, if you need to mail this after framing something, you will have some useful packaging materials.The frame accepts documents or photos that are either 11" x 14", or 8.5" x 11" if you use the included mat. The mat is actually two pieces; one gold and the other black, with a canvas finish. If you use this frame for 8.5" x 11" documents, you will probably need some sticky dots to hold the document in place on the backing. 11" x 14" documents drop right it; just put the mat pieces behind to hold everything in place against the "glass."The translucent front is polycarbonate or acrylic, and arrives with protective film in place, front and back. Because it is a plastic material it won't be scratch-resistant like glass, but it is also much lighter and won't shatter if you drop it or knock the frame over.The frame has two hanging loops (one for vertical and one for horizontal orientation). There is a built-in stand that also works for vertical or horizontal use.The frame edges have a rounded profile, with reddish brown front, and black painted edges. There is a thin gold trim line inside the frame opening. The mitered corner joints on the frame are precise, but the wood underneath the finish does show through a bit. The frame is assembled with staples, and it feels reasonably sturdy.Bottom line - this is a good frame for the price, comparable to what you would get from a typical craft store at the same price point. However, it is not up to the quality level you would expect for custom framing services (which would cost three or four times as much.)
