Oh my god. Ordered this for my mom. At first she complained that while it was easy to squeeze the handle, there was no way to keep the whistle part open unless the handle was squeezed. She hates the sound of a whistle. But the whole reason I bought her a new kettle is because she boiled the old one and it almost melted. What could have been a major disaster (fire!) was caught in time but she needed a new kettle. After using it for a while, the whistle doesn't bother her anymore - it's loud but doesn't actually start whistling until the water boils. She's happy and I'm relieved to know I don't have to call the fire department. 🙄 I recommend this product because it's beautiful, it works, it's strong and it's of excellent quality.
