I bought them for use in a Dolby Atmos system. I wasn't sure how much better the atmosphere would be than 5.1 or 7.1, but once I had everything set up I was blown away. I went with the cheaper speakers because I wasn't sure I would like the Atmos setup and get much use out of it. Not only did I love the atmosphere, I thought these speakers sounded great. They've been installed for less than a month so can't comment on durability, but they sound great! I didn't install them in the case, just attached them to the drywall because I figured that would make them sound weak and lack bass. Not correct. They are much more responsive than I expected. I am very happy with the sound. After debating whether to go for the 6.5 inch or 8 inch version, I settled on the 6.5 inch version and can tell you that if you put it in install in a room with 8 inch ceilings. Installation was easy - cut a hole in the ceiling, connect the wires and screw in the speaker. They have plastic tabs that allow installation without an overhead electrical box or additional items. It's the same concept as an old working wall box if you've ever installed one. The aesthetics are great, as is the sound. Overall I'm very satisfied and will definitely look for these if I need more ceiling speakers in the future!
