They stick out further than expected and are amazingly strong. They also come with a nice storage bag so I can keep them together in my kitchen fire pit. The only downside is that if marshmallows get stuck to the metal pins, they are very difficult to clean. I left the leftovers overnight as our camp was too dark to clean up. In the morning I couldn't even scrape it off. Is it almost like a marshmallow fused with a metallic coating? I ended up having to throw those two away. I would buy them again, just made sure to wipe away the marshmallows that were left between uses and let them cool before putting them back on the fire.
