I connected a 4K streaming box to a 4K AVR (HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2) and then output to a 1080P TV. The HDMI handshake makes the streaming box (correctly) think it's connected to a 1080P TV. I placed this splitter between my AVR and my TV with the EDID switch set to "4K". Now the streaming device thinks it's connected to a 4K TV, and the splitter downscales perfectly to 1080p. Obviously there is no visual benefit to this, but some streaming box apps offer better audio for 4K streams compared to 1080P streams. I connected my 1080P TV to the 2nd output and left the 1st output disabled. I am very happy with this device and I hope it will last a long time.
