Very effective even for large rooms. We use it in our finished master bedroom in the basement and it heats up the room very quickly. We have been using this at night and in the evening for about a year without any problems. Very happy with this product. There are some reviews complaining that this product is unsafe. Please note the enclosed safety documentation. Never connect the heater to an extension cord or power strip as these are NOT rated for the wattage requirements of the heater and can melt/ignite. The ceramic heater is also self-limiting (the elements become less efficient as the temperature rises). This means that if kept in good working order it will not ignite or ignite other materials. Please use your common sense, pay attention to the attached manual and stop using if you damage it (dropping, kicking, etc.).
