I read reviews about the difficulty opening the battery compartment so I was ready to fight. The kit included instructions on how to open the battery compartment. I have arthritis in my hands and I know how difficult it is to open the battery compartment on many items. Thought I might need to put on a pair of disposable gloves to get a better grip as I had to do this with other items. However, according to the instructions, the battery compartment opened on the 3rd attempt. I taped the batteries out of my current puppy-chewed remote and put them in the new remote. My Vizio TV was on at the time. I thought I might need to follow the steps to get the remote to work with my TV, but it was removed from the box immediately after I put in my batteries (2 x 1.5V AAA batteries) and changed channels. This remote control looks the same as the remote control. which I am replacing, except that the silver button does not have a double V printed on it and has some additional lettering on the bottom of the LED/LCD, HDTV, Learn, Universal Remote and VZ-3+LI, I will try other features soon on the Vizio E420d -AO Smart TV and if there are any issues I will update my review.
