What interests me most about these socks is that they are made from materials that are recovered from the waste stream, some of which are collected straight from the ocean. The material that Rockay makes is called recycled nylon, which is just a great idea. Because the company takes an environmentally conscious approach to their product, I paid particular attention to the packaging the socks were sent in (see photo). I think the company could reduce the total number of parts from 3 to 1: information on a small piece of paper could be placed on a cardboard envelope, and the plastic sock bag would just have to be removed, although at least it is. 100% biodegradable (but nothing really breaks down if it ends up in a landfill). And now for the socks: in short, they are great. I've ridden them over 100 miles and they've held up great. They are durable and have a very good fit, which I like. They have been washed three times. They pilled a bit and now I realize I probably shouldn't have tumble dried them with my other laundry. Then again, as sports socks, I honestly don't really care what they look like - they're practically hidden in my running shoes while I'm wearing them! I give the highest rating to the mission and product of this company.
