It took us a while to actually install this simple PetSafe recessed fence. This may seem like a very difficult task. One thing I suggest is that you really plan where you want your fence to be before you pull it out. We made the mistake of putting the plug where we thought we were going to run it and then completely changed our mind and it was a bit of a struggle. This can get quite confusing when you want to lock down multiple areas, like we locked down our garden, as well as around the perimeter, so it's definitely best to plan ahead. Once it was up and running we put the collar on and used the large prongs on our German Shepherd mix. They have different power settings and we had it in the middle and he jumped the fence with no problem. Since then, we've completely turned it around for him. He wanted to jump over the fence, howled and stepped back. Then he went back to the fence and hasn't done it since. It took him and our other pup some time to figure out where they were and weren't allowed to play pranks in the yard, but once they did they were fine. I have to say that the first week the poor puppies were afraid to go outside and we had to kick them out. I think I was worried that we would ruin their looks, but once they knew their limits, they got a lot better. That was a few weeks ago and this week they were on the road with NO collars and ZERO problems. I can even leave our gates open and they know they can't get through that wire barrier. I'm so glad it helped us! And I hope this continues so that eventually we can remove the wires and hope they stay in the yard. Many Thanks.
