Review on Bodum Grinder Electronic Continuously Adjustable by Ryan Hart

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great coffee grinder if you can figure out how to clean it!

Grinds evenly and finely. It's easy to use and fast. Two problems prevent him from being great. First, grinders keep falling out of the machine after grinding and removing the glass jar. Also, static electricity builds up in the cup, which keeps some of the coffee grounds out of the way when the cup is emptied. The only way I've found to solve the static electricity problem is to wait at least 10 minutes after grinding to remove the mug. Second, the instructions are very minimal and useless. After 7 months my coffee grinder stopped grinding. It will make a buzzing noise but not squeak. I went through the instructions to find a solution and there was no troubleshooting information. I was about to ship it back to Bodum when I went online and found a video showing how to disassemble the car and clear the blockage. It turns out that grinding fried potatoes, which are very fat, when fine-tuning, over time clogs the apparatus and you have to disassemble it and clean the grinding stones and the chute. I saw a great video online that recommended running 1/4 cup of rice through the machine regularly to clean it. I cleaned the chute with a fine bottle brush, tapped it gently on the sink to remove any remaining crumbs, then ran the rice through. It's working fine again.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Very expensive
