I grossly underestimated how few items it holds (or should I say how many pins/markers I have!) so while it doesn't hold all of my stocks, it does hold free ones and all my marker sets that I had when I just put them on top of this one. There is a front and back "lip" on the top, it would be nice if they were on all 4 sides so the top could be a little extra surface storage. I still use it as such and may add my own over time. As some others have said, the crates are somehow not good. They pull out fine (takes 2 others with you no matter what you try to open) but get stuck and warp slightly when you try to close them causing the faces of each drawer to butt together making soft closing impossible. I bought it at the time of the rebuild so don't have a workshop yet but I will try rubbing the grooves with beeswax or soap and hopefully they will slide better but this wood is unfinished/porous so it may just soak in the wood . I can end up painting it and finishing it with what I have at home and see if that improves performance. I also don't like that the sections aren't removable, which wastes some space in each section that can hold at least 2 or 3 thick markers, or at least doesn't limit you in how you use the space. The drawers are deep so I can slide the standard length handles all the way in and then put the other handles horizontally forward (bottom drawer only - no baffle) to make the most of the space. Wouldn't recommend it.
