Waist size varied according to body type

I was wearing shorts yesterday and they fit my buttocks and hips perfectly, but the waist was still a bit large for me. I've had this issue before other products so I was expecting it as I still have large hips I should go up a size to adjust the girth around the thighs/buttocks area so they don't look like they're choking . I ordered XL and now I will try the big one, I will check with pictures as soon as I get it.
