Poor memory: doesn't hold up, folds in half

I was originally planning to buy a thinner pad but it was on sale so I went for 2.5". At first it was comfortable to sleep on; I sleep on both my back and side, so I need a bed surface that doesn't sag in the middle (so doesn't cause back pain when I sleep on my back) and isn't so hard that I don't get pain in mine arm or my hip due to the displaced side. Sleep. After moving in, I just got an almost new, fairly firm mattress with an orthopedic cover. It was too firm for my sleeping position so I had to change it to something affordable. It seemed to work. Unfortunately after two months of sleeping the middle has completely subsided and my buttocks/thighs are now spending the night in the crater causing me back, middle and lower back cramps. Pain and pain in the hip joint from my hip sinking too deep into the surface in the dream instead of sitting too high on it. I tried turning it over but the fiber in the center of the mattress was too badly damaged. I was visiting family for Thanksgiving, was miraculously pain free for 5 days, and after spending a night in my own bed my back was already sad. I would return it if I could but unfortunately; The return period has of course expired. For reference, I'm 5'5" and 185 pounds; so I'm not a tiny person, but I'm not a huge person either. You would think that something called "memory foam" would be a better memory.

Pros

Cons
  • Hard to tell
