It Just Worked - Computer Cable Adapter

Due to the coronavirus I suddenly had to work from home. I work in IT, mainly computer programming, and I'm used to having two flat screens on my desk. Suddenly being limited to a 15 inch screen on my laptop didn't help. I ordered two flat screens and when they arrived I connected one to my laptop's HDMI port and the other to a USB-C port via the USB-C to HDMI port. The second monitor didn't work. I noticed that the USB-C port on my new laptop is data only, meaning it doesn't support DisplayLink or Thunderbolt (shame on you HP). While researching possible solutions, I found a recommendation for this USB adapter on the HP support forum. When the adapter arrived it came with a USB-A connector. All of my USB-A ports on my laptop were already occupied, so I used a USB-C to USB-A converter to connect the adapter to my laptop's USB-C port and then connect a second monitor with a cable HDMI to adapter and turned everything on. The second monitor just worked. I didn't have to mess around with the display settings (other than setting up the remote desktop to use all my monitors). I've noticed that the second monitor sometimes twitches a bit when moving windows, but for the type of work I do, that's not very desirable. I don't play games so I have no idea how well the adapter would work for that. If you have a laptop like mine that doesn't have native support for a second external display, this adapter seems like a good solution.
