The shower cartridge is fairly easy to install. I just cleaned up some old hard water buildup and everything went pretty smoothly. Just buy the right part the first time. Because of this, I suggested calling Delta (or your OEM) first if you're unsure of the year and model. I took a picture of my old one and sent it to them so they can find out what model I have. The replacement came with the ability to hold two different models (Example: Model 1700 vs. Model 1500) but it only showed instructions for one of them but it was pretty easy to figure out what to do and use to match it and to get it working, just buy it compared to the one I replaced. Don't use adapter kits from the big department stores and don't try to update the look of your shower grip! They don't work and you're just wasting your time! Use genuine parts, just clean and reinstall and you should have no problems.
