Contrary to some negative reviews I found that the light comes with extra screws and an adapter plate to mount the light to a junction box, distinguished from a distance of 3.5 inches between mounting slots. It still doesn't match the screw holes in the socket, but sockets shouldn't be used for hanging fixtures anyway. If you don't have a suitable ceiling box, you may need to add a few screws yourself, but that's not the product's fault. It was easy to install (despite the lack of a standard J_box) and provides an unobtrusive light over our kitchen sink, where I got an old fluorescent bulb. I have a soft light bright enough to work on and around the sink. If I don't have reliability issues I will be buying these lamps again for DIY projects.
