Review on πŸ₯§ 9-Inch x 1.2-Inch Pyrex Glass Bakeware Pie Plate by Richard Deng

Maybe not as versatile

My need for a new Pyrex disc is atypical. I already have a very heavy, thick Pyrex baking pan which I use for its intended purpose of baking cakes. A few years ago I bought a second, more modern plate (but still made the old way) at a thrift store to use as a cat bowl. The size and shape of this plate is perfect for this purpose as it is easy to clean and the beveled edges keep the food in the plate without the cat's whiskers touching anything - cats don't like their whiskers touching anything while eating. Unfortunately, this dish broke into millions of pieces when it was dropped by a curious young man one day. I understand that the newer way they cook these dishes is so they don't break as easily, but there's a trade-off and of course the new dish comes with a set of directions that seem to get rid of most of the reasons folks used to buy pyrex cookware to avoid sudden changes in temperature, never use it on the grill, never put it directly on the countertop, etc. Although I don't use it in the kitchen, I'm concerned the new dishes don't seem to work anymore being as eclectic as they used to be, and that's why I can't say I like them.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Compatibility
