Before I bought this product, I had never tried gouache before. I mainly use watercolor when I paint and I am happy to say that I’ve found a new favorite. I love how easy to work with and versatile this product is. To me, it feels like a happy medium between watercolors and acrylics — it is water-activated and behaves similarly to watercolor, but can reach an opaqueness similar to acrylic paints. I have been using it to paint on vintage book paper and I’m very satisfied with how I can play with the opacity of this paint more as compared to regular watercolors (you can see in the pictures I added just how well it covers the text of the page, and I left some showing purposely also). Not to mention that the case the paints come in makes it easy to travel with them. I would certainly recommend these to artists of any skill level!
