Review on Swift Shank: Cutting-edge Stainless Steel Spearfishing Knife for Precision and Efficiency by Charles Adelaja

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Product rated A- to A (maybe A+ after getting some fish to test)

Update: After the spearfishing season and starting the second season I find this knife to be really great for spearfishing medium sized fish . The retention system is top notch and the blade is not lost yet (earlier dive knives either came out too easily/got lost or PIA got free when I need it). I like it a lot after being in the water. I would definitely buy again. ======================================== Westcoast Straighthookers is a top notch seller, and has worked with me very quickly when the first package was lost by USPS. First impressions are that this is a 4 star product. It felt a little light for strength, but it's a highly specialized knife. What it isn't: - I wouldn't use it for heavy cutting (could probably go through a lobster trapping rope at times, but not for this task half-to-handle all the time) What kind of knife is this: - Small, very light ( wouldn't even notice it on your belt) - Great sheath (belt loop or leg strap) - Very good locking mechanism to keep knife in sheath - Definitely strong for stuff with a shank (Tested on a 2x4 inch in the garage. Hit pretty hard and seemed sturdy for the task). - The plastic is generally very good and doesn't appear to be fragile which is very good - a very sharp point that performs as this knife is intended (i.e. delivering fish quickly). - It requires very little effort to get into the fish and is easy to control compared to larger dive knives designed for general diving use. In general, instead of a machete, expect a surgeon's scalpel. This is a specialty tool that I think only spearfishers want to carry around, not the average diver. It looks more like an ice pick than a cutting tool, but can do light cutting work. I'll update my review this weekend if I'm lucky enough to catch some fish.
