The next step is to analyze paper types and how they affect the look of your illustrations. The third section covers basic pen techniques using different types of dots, lines, and colors. Then, and only after that, Sho Ito introduces us to various illustrations of different types of food and animals. Each example is detailed line by line and explained with numerous illustrations and notes. In addition, there are sections on water brushes and black and white illustration techniques. This is simply beautiful and unique art and the illustration examples range from adorable animals, whimsical sea creatures, graceful birds and colorful plants to delicate insects. and more. The images themselves inspire and teach. I was so impressed by the clarity of this text that I ordered a paper copy to use to teach a young autistic woman how to draw. I hope she will be as inspired as I am and that once she has learned different brush techniques, numbered strokes will be enough to help her paint independently for her own enjoyment. While part of conquering the arts is innate talent, there is definitely enough information here for readers to expand and practice their writing skills.
