Review on Enhanced CableCARD Receiver: Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 Dual Tuner by Jeff Keegan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect integration with Win7 Media Ctr!

Very good features for almost perfect integration of computer and television or HTPC. Starting with using a 32-inch 1080p LCD TV as the main computer monitor, this small tuner/recorder integrates computing, TV, and audiovisual presentations. and easy to use, great software guide, good recording/playback - plus excellent other built-in versatility comes with WinMediaCenter. (Once you get past Comcast) I used a Hauppauge HVR-1250 NTSC/ATSC/QAM PCIe internal tuner card (which also was very good until ComCast started requiring DTA) so I just switched to this Hauppage CableCard DCR setup Make it easy for yourself, 1 remote access to all features, no confusion and simple, easily integrated control via the WMC computer interface . It's only been installed about 6 hours so far, but everything seems to be working great. Yes, I love my Win Media Center! Works perfect for me. This device works very well with WMC. And a big thank you to everyone who has posted their reviews of this device - I wouldn't have had such an easy setup without the feedback from others. Yes, don't use the CD in the box, get the latest version from the Hauppauge website! Also get the new installation guide (pdf) from the support site. Call Comcast ahead of time, ask about CableCards and make sure you pick the right card (they say there are 2 cards) - get a Full HD CableCard! When you collect the card, make sure the representative/agent verifies and notes on your account that the card will be activated for all your existing services (Digital, HD, Premiums, etc.) and will need to be activated before you sign it and accept. Thanks to the reviewers - it wouldn't have been possible without you! The 2650 works well - good picture, reception and tuner. Pretty smooth integrated work. ComCast is by far the worst of all.
