Review on πŸ“· Fujinon XF18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens by Luis Mercado

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than I expected.

This lens cannot satisfy those who use pixel peeking as an important method to determine which lenses are out of spec. Edges are not particularly sharp at most focal lengths. The lens is obviously not the fastest. I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing this lens as these issues bothered me. However, after spending the weekend with him and taking around 200 pictures, I am very happy with this decision. While not too sharp around the edges, it's very sharp in the center. While not particularly fast, I simply increased the ISO to keep my shutter speed high. While it's not silky smooth when changing focal lengths, it's stiff enough to avoid creep. There is nothing particularly outstanding about this lens, but there are many very good ones. Of the 200 or so shots I took over the weekend, none disappointed me. This produced pleasing colors and contrasts and generally satisfactory images. The 18mm to 135mm range just works. I may have been too cautious with my expectations of the lens, but after a few days I'm feeling confident. I have several fast Fuji Prime lenses that certainly produce nicer images at the pixel level, and when I absolutely need a fast, wide-open shutter. But generally versatile, other than the camera lens, this one exceeded my expectations. Anyway, I've had other versatile wide-angle lenses on cameras with different sensor sizes, but none of them have given me as much satisfaction. Implementing this concept as Fuji does. It was a real pleasure to use and I was satisfied with the images produced. The stabilization in the lens has never let me down either.
