I bought these to use as a DOCK ladder to mount on my dock instead of on my boat. I was looking for a fairly small stainless steel ladder that could be lifted out of the water when not in use to keep it from slipping and causing algae to grow. This staircase meets these requirements very well. Assembly was a breeze, as was installation. I like the combination of the telescoping aspect with the articulated approach, which gives it a lower profile and a less obtrusive look when in the up position (many articulated slim ladders end up being unsightly tall, being either simply articulated and sticking high into the air, or are articulated and pave 4ft+ over the catwalk There are three weaknesses in the design of this ladder (not a big deal in my case): #1: While the bungee installed should help lift the ladder up, it's not exactly there does anyone actually have to get out and turn around and bend down to hang the ladder look at the narrow vs. normal width of the ladder this ladder is too narrow for the overweight - not that it can't support a few hundred pounds but it is just quite narrow it's really not a factor for me/my family #3: As other reviewers have pointed out, the bolted panels are for Cre welded to the ladder captivity, nowhere closed. e be flat when placed on a flat surface. This wasn't a problem for me though as I mounted it on a wooden dock and was able to reinforce the attachment point at the bottom so the two mounting plates would press against the wood when mounted on an aluminum or fiberglass boat. surface, you are unlikely to get the boost you need. If you fall into this category, you may have to return the ladder if your mounting plates don't arrive flat like mine (and other people's) do. All this to say that the ladder works/works well for me. The handrails are nice and make getting out of the water much easier than ladders without them. The "pull up" bungee is a good idea, but it doesn't seem to be implemented very well (I've tried moving it to different positions but the overall result is the same: I dismount, then turn and bend me down to raise the ladder) This ladder was purchased in 2019 and installed in a matter of days. The build looks good. Quality control is definitely Chinese ie mostly correct but not totally correct and had flaws that any basic/basic quality control system would have found before shipping.
