The first cartridges were great for both plain and photo paper. However, something went wrong with my magenta color. I emptied the first and installed the second. When I turned it over to install, it immediately started dripping. I found it strange, but I didn't attach much importance to it. I installed it quickly, hoping it would stop the dripping. It's not like this. Ink flowed out of the hole in the downward facing sponge as the cartridge was loaded into the printer. I thought this cartridge might be defective, but the problem was with the other two magenta cartridges. I didn't see any design differences between good cartridges and bad cartridges, but they made a real mess. (Looked like a crime scene. LOL!) Since the whole kit costs less than an HP ink cartridge, it wasn't such a bad loss. Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable buying this again and will have to shell out money for an HP product.
