Inexpensive do-it-yourself flag mounting kit, suitable for towing gear and winches

I needed a flagpole mount ASAP but didn't want to pay too much. That fits the bill perfectly. Yes, it's thin, especially if you're used to dragging accessories. So I tested it by standing on it, jumping on it and also spinning it with a metal pole. And yes, I am a grown adult weighing over 200 pounds. It did not deform, but simply assumed its original shape. Satisfied with the (very) quality I went to the hardware store to build my own flagpole. I overdid it a bit, but as they say, if it's worth it, it's worth overdoing: ● 2" PVC pipe cut to 6 feet - Home Depot #193852 ● 2" PVC end cap - Home Depot # 232777 ● 2 Screws 3/8" x 5" Eyelet - Lowes #1290770 ● 2x 3/8" Washers - Lowes #114193 ● 2x Carabiner (Spring Latch) - Lowes #1290730 This can be used as a template if you don't know what to use Start. For example, if you have a tall car, you can get by with just 4ft of PVC for a standard 3ft by 5ft flag. ABS pipe saves you the trouble of painting white PVC. You can also downsize the hardware to 1/4" and go for stainless steel. This is exactly what I was able to find fastest and for less than $20. All you have to do now is drill two holes spaced according to the size of your flag I didn't want to have much play in the flag so I fully installed the top bracket, hardware, carabiner and flag and then lowered the flag where the bottom hole with the least play. I also made sure the flag was NOT touching the ground when stationary. I tested it on my lowest car (Miata) to be sure. Overall I'm very happy with my setup. I have one made a short ride at up to 70mph and apart from the stem flexing a bit the mount held up great.I will update this review after several trips to the beach.
