For the price it is a good tool to have. There are some short comings that come with it though. I have a hard time making the display warn me that I am touching a hot connection on newer type outlets. The rather large metal tip won't let you in deep enough, but older outlets do. I tested it with another higher end tester and even though its metal tip is encased in plastic it is thin enough to read that you have a hot wire in the newer outlet. The LED light is not as robust as the more expensive testers are. Keep in mind that this tester is about 3-4 times cheaper than what the nicer testers go for. You get what you pay for and for my needs this tester will work fine.
