Review on Enhanced Elgato ๐ŸŽฎ Stream Deck MK 2 Controller by Andrew Agarwal

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works in-game for custom keybindings as well as on desktop. LOVE IT

I've been using Stream Deck for five days now. I have to say this is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not a streamer but I'm an IT guy and a gamer. I'm always looking for cool new ways to interact with my computer via desktop icons or mouse/keyboard. The games I play have a lot of button bindings and I hear a lot of audio while I'm playing and it's great to be able to control these things without minimizing the game. I'll start by saying I have Windows 10. and it works great. For the comments stating that you cannot make Stream Deck run keyboard shortcuts while playing, you must be running the Stream Deck engine as an administrator just because your video game or other application is running as such. All games/applications that are not run as administrator can be used without making this setting. Installation is simple and straightforward. The USB cable is attached to the device which is a bit annoying, but I was able to connect it with a USB extension cable and it works fine. on google and type what i'm looking for like "razer logo" and download the one that looks like i want and install it on the key which makes learning a lot easier as you know the keys a lot can identify faster. The device is fast and has no lag when pressing buttons. You can create "Folders" which is a button that gives you a whole bunch of new buttons. Think of it like a folder on your smartphone when you have a bunch of apps. It's a very nice feature and I wasn't even expecting it, but it's there. I know some people say they're annoyed that folders are only allowed at the top level, but that's probably necessary since creating a 3 or 4+ level folder structure will either slow down the device or just stop working. all together. I think the size of the device is ideal. The buttons aren't so small that you have to be unduly distracted to press them, and they're not so big that it's gross. They made it really easy to use. You can also make the keys lighter or darker depending on the environment. I find it comfortable when playing at night it doesn't shine in my eyes. I wish there were more features for things unrelated to streaming and the like. I would like to see more support for multi-tap or even macros like a real mouse or keyboard driver does. I would also like to see a way to create multiple profiles, say one for work and one for play, that would add a lot more functionality to the device. After that I will write to the company and let them know about these requests as I really think such input devices are the future. People are looking for additional ways to make their computer more user friendly or to add the features they need and this is the device. The fact that the buttons are OLED screens, meaning they're backlit with special icons, really makes this device sing. If it was like the competition, where you had to make tiny paper cutouts and then highlight the paper, it just wouldn't work. I would recommend this device to anyone looking for custom input keys for their computers, games or simulators. This is installed in my iRacing simulator as a button replacement and I have already told about 10 people about it and they all buy it. While this is the first version to only feature keypress assignments or app/website launching, it's enough to get you started and I look forward to what they can do in the future. I will update this review if anything changes.
