Have used it 3 times since receiving it a few days ago. I really like the plastic coating on the plates which really helps to gently run the straightener down the length of the hair. I also like the recessed textured ends that make it easier to hold the flat iron plates together on the hair and help reduce finger heat issues. I'm not entirely sure if the ion generator feature makes a difference to my previous straightener which didn't, but it seems like my hair has a different silkiness after straightening. So I guess the ion generator isn't hype, it's an added benefit. I haven't soft curled my somewhat short hair yet, which others have written will probably take a bit of practice, but I'm very happy that straightening my hair with these twisted plates is no problem and very easy. **Temperature POWER LOCK feature: Note that the instruction manual is missing a VERY important piece of advice, which is the temperature lock feature and how to automatically lock it. after a few seconds to the temperature you set and how to unlock it to change the temperature. Luckily, there is an answer to this question in the Ask a Question section of the product page, which helped me understand why the temperature doesn't change after turning it on.
