I bought other charging cables for my Vivoactive 3 Music once I got the watch but it didn't have a base. For some reason I thought the base was useless but I wish I had bought it sooner. I've always had to find a soft spot to put the face down when connecting other charging cables to the watch (including one from Garmin), but that's not necessary with them. You just place the watch on the base and it snaps into place fairly easily. It's definitely like being able to look at the watch to see where it's currently charging instead of having to pick it up and turn it over. I have not used these chargers to connect my watch to my computer but they work great for charging.
