Review on Pacific Image PowerFilm CCD Scanner: Fast πŸ“· and Automated 35mm Film Scanning at 6MP Speed! by Anthony Cornelius

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Outstanding quality and significant time savings

The first scanner I came across didn't work at all, so I had my doubts about this product, especially since Revain's initial review was so negative. I contacted the manufacturer and they replaced my scanner. A few days later I got a replacement and it works great. The quality of the scanned image is much better than my old Plustek and the ability to batch load negatives is tremendous. The naming software is a bit primitive. Each time you load a new batch of film, frames are saved starting at count 001. I haven't figured out how to get it to start with a different number so I resorted to renaming the images from the previous batch. I can't figure out how to assign a permanent scan folder either. Every time I start a new scan it goes back to the default folder. However, these are low claims given the quality of the images and the time saved by running the scanner automatically.

Pros
  • Patented MagicTouch technology automatically removes dust and scratches from your scanned image. Fast and efficient, saves time! High Speed Scanning: 24s/frame at 6 megapixels, high speed scanning allows you to quickly process boxes of old negatives. The 6 megapixel Fast Scan setting is excellent for printing fine art prints up to 10.0 x 6.7 inches at 300 dpi.
Cons
  • Crumpled
