Review on Lexar JumpDrive M45 32GB πŸ’Ύ USB 3.1 Flash Drive - LJDM45-32GBSLNA by Jeff Bundrick

USB 3.1 is NOT suitable for storage

This flash drive is junk. Not even close to the speed of USB 3.1 as Lexar claims. Check out the pictures and yes I plugged it into the correct port on my laptop. The read speed isn't much better, around 30MB. I tried copying multiple files, one of which was 28GB, and it took over an hour, more like 2 hours. The second file I tried to copy was just over 2GB, but it still took a few minutes. The only thing that seems right about this flash drive is the capacity, which is just under 32GB (normal) as that's the advertised size. When I plug in the flash drive, it appears as "ESD" rather than "LEXAR" as I expected. Just for comparison I tested this with some of my other flash drives and each one comes up with the name you would expect. "PNI". "SANDISK" and so on. I also compared the write and read speeds of my other flash drives and as I expected they are at least twice as fast if not 2.5 times as fast. I think it's safe to say I've landed with a new brand imitation that is neither Lexar nor real USB 3.1. I really can't blame anyone but myself for not testing this stick when it arrived. I've used another 3.0 flash with no problems except that it's a little bulky which is what prompted me to purchase this unit (compact, metal, 3.1). Drives because of features (so-called features) and above all because of the price. NOT. There's a reason it was only $10. Lesson learned.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
