It's good enough. I was willing to pay a lot more for a quality carbon steel seam ripper with a sharp needle. But I don't think they do. So I bought them instead and they are perfectly acceptable. The small ones are sharp enough to make fine stitches, while the big ones are good for larger stitches. The cutting part is sharp enough to break the threads, although the metal part doesn't even look like the metal part is metal in my opinion. but whatever - they just work. And they're very inexpensive, so that's a plus. If an American manufacturer ever makes a quality one, I will buy it. But until then, they have to do their job until they break. I notice that one of the big rippers appears to have had some of the plastic fall off the hook tip onto the cutter. I plan to just take a needle file for this edge to clean it up. I guess then I'll know if it's real metal and if it can be sharpened. However, I will forget to update this review.
