First, the lid doesn't stick well to the ripper and it comes off when one of my other tools touches it. It's good enough. I was willing to pay a lot more for a quality carbon steel seam ripper with a sharp needle. But I don't think they do. So I bought them instead and they are perfectly acceptable. The small ones are sharp enough to make fine stitches, while the big ones are good for larger stitches.
