I've tried several quick release systems over the years and this one keeps coming back. I have multiple cameras, tripods, monopods, and a homemade shoulder pad and needed a good "system" way to move cameras between supports. I have tried QR systems from Arca Swiss, Really Right Stuff, Gitzo and Manfrotto/Bogen. Each system has its own advantages, but this device (and its previous generation ancestors) has become my go-to mount. I like the current version with built-in spirit level. I now have 3 or these adapters: 1 mounted on the Really Right Stuff ball head, one on the Gitzo head and one on my shoulder bar. I also put plates on each of my cameras and lens tripod mounts (those nice expensive rings that come for some telephoto lenses). Positives: - Reasonable weight - The plates hold the camera well and don't rotate - Very strong - Reasonable cost, especially for the extra plates - Holds the mechanism very well. - Easy to mount and/or adapt to any type of ball head and other mounts I've tried. The only caveat is that you have to make sure that the plate is actually attached. Tripod. You might mistakenly think you've blocked the plate, but in fact it's not fully seated. Maybe this will cause the camera to fall off the tripod (this happened to me twice). But if you check and make sure that the plate is properly fixed, everything is fine. I just want Manfrotto to make a simple angle adapter with two of these,
